Brian FitzGerald joined Altera as chairman in April 2006 after an extensive career in banking including commercial banking, investment banking and private banking. He has worked in Australia, South Africa, Singapore, New York and London.
Most of his career has been spent with Standard Chartered Bank (1977-1991) in various directorial positions, including Managing Director of Standard Chartered Merchant Bank Asia, Executive Vice President of Standard Chartered Bank, New York, Director of International and Corporate Banking, London and Head of Private Banking, London.
More recently, Brian, had chief executive responsibilities with Riggs Bank (2000-2005), then Chairman and CEO of Liberty Syndicates, subsidiary of Liberty Mutual of Boston till 2012.
Patrick P. Coppens
Chief Executive Officer
Patrick is a Founding Partner of Altera Partners Management Ltd. (AP), a privately owned investment management company established in London in 2003 and Partner of LQI established in 2013.
Prior to founding AP, Patrick held senior positions at Lehman Brothers and Nomura International the fixed income derivatives division. Patrick was also in charge of Bankgesellshaft Berlin ’s USD 15BN trading book in exotic fixed income derivatives.
Patrick has considerable expertise in managing portfolios, risk management and software development.
Patrick is a frequent speaker at hedge fund symposiums. Patrick has a Financial Engineering Degree from the Solvay Business School, Universite Libre de Bruxelles (ULB).
Dr. Richard Bateson
Prior to joining AP and LQI, Richard worked at AHL, Man Group plc, and was Head of Dimension, AHL's multi-strategy systematic fund, including the Evolution and Genesis funds.
During this time, Richard was an associate of the Oxford-Man Institute, Oxford University and a Research Committee member.
Other key roles Richard has held include CEO of MGIM, an investment manager running assets in excess of US2billion, and Managing Director at Royal Bank of Canada.
Richard has a first class degree and a doctorate in Physics from Cambridge University. He is the author of "Financial Derivative Investments" (WSP 2011) and has also written many physics papers.

Mark Joined Altera in 2014 as Partner and Head of Business Development
Mark has over 20 year experience managing funds for institutional clients and high net worth individuals through a globally based asset management company which he founded. He has extensive experience working in Asia and is fluent in Japanese.
Mark also founded a global capital raising distribution business focusing on alternative asset classes with offices in Asia and Europe. This venture successfully raised early stage capital for a number of hedge funds, real estate investment projects, and other investments.
Mark is considered an expert and specialist in alternative investment strategies, hedge funds, commodities markets, CTA’s and global investments. During his time in Japan, Mark was founder and director of one of Japan’s leading Forex and Securities companies, FXA Securities, which was later sold to Man Group.
Mark received a Bachelor of Arts (Honours) in Business Studies and Economics from Greenwich University in England, and was a Research Masters student in Economics from Tokyo University. He has authored two popular books on the hedge fund industry in Japan.
Maryam Mansoury - Edstrom
Head of Altera Private Investment
Maryam joined Altera in 2010 and is Partner since 2015 in charge of Altera Private Investment Office. Maryam has 25 years experience in financial markets with a proven track record in institutional and private wealth management. Since 2007 Maryam has worked with several prominent family offices as CIO and investment advisor, where she gained invaluable experience in wealth structuring and preservation. Maryam specializes in working exclusively with clients to achieve optimal asset allocation and implementation of strategies.
Maryam also held senior positions at DNB Nor Asset Management, Skandia Asset Management (London, Hong Kong), UBS (London), CSFB (London) and Lehman Brothers (London, New York).
Maryam attended Sorbonne University in Paris and has a BA in Languages.

Rito joined Altera in 2017 as a Senior Quant specialized in Machine Learning Algorithms.
He has wide-ranging experience in quantitative trading, and holds several software patents.
Rito has developed applications for several US based hedge funds and previously held positions at Oracle and Tata Consultancy Services. He continues to serve as a professor at WorldQuant University.
Rito is an alumni of Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Mumbai and a member of Mensa.
Piwat joined Altera in 2007 as programmer in charge of AP software development and maintenance. Altera has a proprietary software that manage all aspects of investment management. Piwat other functions include development and maintenance of AP web interfaces and AP cloud server.
